Internet Config 2.0 introduces switchable preference sets. You can now create multiple independent preference sets within Internet Config. You might use this to host two different users on the same computer, or to represent two different locations for your PowerBook.
The Internet Config Location Manager Module (IC LMM) provides an interface between Internet Config and the Mac OS Location Manager. After installing the IC LMM, you can add an Internet Config preferences set to your locations, and have Location Manager switch your IC settings when you switch locations.
The Location Manager is available on all computers that run Mac OS 8.1 or higher. IC LMM requires Location Manager 2.0.1 and higher, and will not work with earlier versions of Location Manager.
Installation and Use
Put the “Internet Config Set” file in the Location Manager Modules folder in the Extensions folder in your System Folder. Then restart your computer.
When you next launch the Location Manager control panel and open a location for editing, the Location Manager will give you the option of adding your current Internet Config set in to the location. Once you do that, Location Manager will automatically switch the IC set every time you switch to this location.
Notes and Caveats
The IC LMM remembers the current set using its IC “profile ID” and its name. The profile ID takes precedence, so if you rename a set in IC, the location will still remember how to switch to that set.
The IC LMM does not completely support Location Manager's “Import Location” and “Export Location” commands. When you export a location, the only thing exported is the “profile ID” and the name. So if you take that location and import it on another machine, it will not bring across all of the Internet Config preferences associated with that set. This is a version 1.0 limitation, and will be addressed in a future version.
